Skoda Fabia would finally come to India

Hi Everyone,
It has been expected for a while but no one knew just when the Skoda Fabia would finally come to India.
Now it seems there’s a definite plan to roll out the famed small car in India by the end of this year.
At the launch of Skoda India’s Jaipur dealership recently, Karsten Bogun, managing director (commercial) of Skoda India announced that the Fabia would be part of Skoda’s new aggression in the Indian market.
The hatchback, if it does come, will be positioned in the premium hot hatch segment alongside models like the Swift, Aveo U-VA and Getz.
The sedan should be attractively priced depending upon the level of localisation that the project manages to achieve. Experts say the price aggression is likely given that the company is targetting sales of around 17,000 units this calendar year which works out to around1500-1600 car per month. So far Skoda has sold 43,000 cars in the last five years.
If the hatch does come, Skoda will likely tinker with the length to meet the small car requirements mandatory for tax rebates in India.
The engine size too should be either 1.2 litre or 1.4 litre to qualify for the lower excise tax. The pricing of the sedan could be around Rs 6-7 lakh while the hatch may hover around the Rs 5-6 lakh range.
However Skoda officials say the pricing has not been fixed and the final tag may well be more or less aggressive depending on the positioning of the vehicle.

The Skoda Fabia is going to be miles ahead when it comes to refinement, finishing and functionality. Come on, we are still seeing somebody daring to launch a Logan in this country. The only catch is the need for a green technology in India when it comes to cars. Why can’t Fabia come with a hybrid engine, let the manufacturer make up with a higher price. At least come with a good quality CNG option.

Maruti will be forced to bring down the price in a few months. Customers are well advised to wait till then.
When Tata can sell their Indigos cheaper, can’t understand why Maruti sticks to overpricing. Their cars are not better than Indigos.

Finally a good looking car in the C segment from Maruti. Specs look exciting. Pricing and marketing will be crucial for survival since Maruti has not established itself in the C segment. Should price it extremely aggressive and make a lot of noise.

I used to own a Matiz which is a class of its own. GM had further improved on its capabilities like better enginem, which had made the Spark more desirable. But dudes what ever you all may say, Sapark has to stand teh etst of time through the first monsoon in indian driving and road conditions. Especially the Mumbai roads. We will applaud if it can do so. ia m waiting for it to be on road for 6 months..see the situation and then buy

hi….i am an aveo owner.but slightly disappointed bcoz i used esteem with 85 ps power n had expected aveo 1.6 will out perform esteem .but none happened.i wil love to say fiesta is a drivers vehichle.but in high ways Aveo rocks.but at very high speeds,ie above 100,slight vibrations makes de driver alil nervous.so others go for fiesta.fiesta holds gold in any thing but not for de looks.in looks n space,interiors ,Aveo can b e appriciated a lot…..

spark should have the option of 800cc engine as it will be the most fuel efficient car in its segment. for performance one can buy with higher cc engine with less fuel efficient engine. people bought matiz because it was quite fuel efficient and best ride quality.

maruti can do that. now hyundai can do that too. tata has been doing it. GM still is a struggling car maker in india.

Skoda is a good car, no doubt, and it comes with a certain snob value in India mainly because until now they made cars which had only a super rich category customer base. Though, in spite of this, they are used to giving sloppy service to its customers. Prices of spares are very expensive too as they are imported. Skoda’s customer satisfaction in India is way below most other manufacturers, which in fact makes me think if this is that much an object of desire. Besides, it is sure to come with premuim pricing because its a Skoda. It has pretty much the same interior space as the swift, and the exterior looks similar too.. would it make sense to go for a swift with a Skoda badge for about a lakh more?? I am not sure..
